Axar.azreports that the statement came from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in an interview with Bild.

Zelensky is convinced that the war can be stopped only after a direct dialogue with Putin on the basis of mutual compromise:

"My goal in every conversation is to end the war with Russia. I am also ready to take certain steps. You can make concessions, but they should not betray my country. The other side must also be willing to compromise, so this is called a "compromise." This is the only way out. We can't talk about the details yet. We have not had direct contact between the presidents yet. Only after direct talks between the two presidents can this war be ended.
