“French embassy celebrates the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan,” said French ambassador to Azerbaijan Zacharie Gross in his article dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and France.

Axar.az informs that according to the ambassador, France recognized the independence of the young Republic of Azerbaijan- in February 1992, which broke away from Soviet Empire: “Azerbaijan was among the first republics to mobilize for independence and its people paid a heavy price, especially when Soviet troops opened fire on civilians on January 20, 1990.”

The diplomat noted that the new Republic of Azerbaijan covered a distance of 30 years, and that way was not easy, however, it allowed the country to develop a powerful state and dynamic economy, to improve the level of education and skills of the population, renew social defence system, restore its territories and an unprecedented rapprochement with the European Union.

“French has been a seatmate of Azerbaijan during 30 years. Bilateral relations have developed in all fields: fields such as higher education, scientific research, culture, archeology, energy, transportation, water, agriculture, and cosmos can be shown as just a few examples. French companies have greatly invested in the country and want to continue trade,” diplomat stressed.
