The court in the Comoros Islands sentenced ex-president Ahmed Abdulla Sambi to life imprisonment for selling passports to stateless persons.

Axar.az reports that AFP reported on this.

According to information, the National Security Court, a special judicial body whose decisions cannot be appealed, issued a verdict on 64-year-old Sambi:

"Sambi, who led the small Indian Ocean nation from 2006 to 2011, passed a law in 2008 that allowed the sale of passports at high prices. The former president is accused of embezzling millions of dollars with this scheme."
