Turkiye has demanded an exemption for Ankara under the sanctions imposed on "Gazprombank" during talks with the United States.

Axar.az reports this, citing sources from Hurriyet.

It was noted that the issue was discussed during the visit of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Ankara.

The U.S. side has acknowledged these requests and stated that it is currently assessing the matter.

It is worth mentioning that Turkiye's Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar had previously stated that the sanctions imposed by the U.S. on "Gazprombank" have had a negative impact on the country. The minister pointed out that Turkiye imports 40% of its natural gas from Russia, and payment difficulties could deal a serious blow to the country's economy.
