Turkiye's embassy in Syria has officially resumed operations after nearly 12 years and 9 months.

Axar.az reports that Turkish media shared this information.

It was noted that the embassy was officially reopened today with the arrival of Turkiye's interim chargé d'affaires in Damascus, Burhan Koroglu, and his team.

For context, Turkiye's embassy in Damascus ceased operations on March 26, 2012, due to events in Syria. Embassy staff and their families returned to Turkiye following the decision.

Meanwhile, Syria's Consulate General in Istanbul continued its operations.
