The European Union may ease sanctions against Russia

The European Union may ease sanctions against Russia only after Ukraine achieves peace and the threat of a renewed Russian attack is eliminated.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by David Sullivan, the EU’s Special Representative for Sanctions.

According to him, as long as threats to Ukraine’s security remain, the EU will not ease sanctions in advance:

“We will discuss lifting sanctions only when the reasons for their imposition no longer exist. We have no intention of doing this beforehand without a settlement that guarantees Ukraine’s future security, sovereignty, and freedom.”
