After proposing a 10% additional tariff on BRICS member states, the alliance began to weaken.

Axar.az reports that U.S. President Donald Trump made this statement.

He said the BRICS countries had attempted to challenge the dominance of the U.S. dollar, which prompted him to act:

“There’s this small group called BRICS. The group is fading fast, but the issue was that they attempted to undermine the dollar's dominance. So I said: ‘We’re going to impose a 10% tariff on all BRICS countries.’”

Trump added that after his threats, the BRICS nations held a meeting that was “barely attended”:

“They said, ‘Leave us alone, we don’t want tariffs.’ That’s fantastic.”
