On October 23, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev presented the “Istiglal” Order to People's Artist Farhad Khalilov.

Farhad Gurban oglu Khalilov is a prominent Azerbaijani artist and the chairman of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan.

Born in Baku on October 26, 1946, Khalilov studied at the Azim Azimzade Azerbaijan State Art School from 1961 to 1966. He continued his studies at the Stroganov Art School from 1966 to 1968 and the Moscow Polygraphic Institute from 1969 to 1975.

Absheron Peninsula landscapes and coastal scenes hold a special place in Khalilov’s work. His paintings often depict the peninsula’s beaches and settlements, including Nardaran, Buzovna, Zagulba, Mashtaga and Mardakan. His works have been exhibited extensively across the former Soviet Union and Europe, featuring in numerous galleries and exhibitions.
