Azerbaijan’s transit cargo rises 11.6% to 9.1M tons

Azerbaijan is further strengthening its position as an international transport and logistics hub.

Axar.az reports, citing the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, that the volume of transit cargo exceeded 9.1 million tons in the first seven months of 2026, reaching a record level for the past five years.

The figure is 11.6% higher than in the same period last year. In particular, transit cargo volumes increased by 16.5% along the East-West route and by 14.3% along the North-South route.

The results demonstrate the significant increase in Azerbaijan’s strategic position and competitiveness along the Middle Corridor and North-South corridors, driven by reforms in the transport and logistics sector, digitalization, infrastructure modernization and expanded international cooperation in recent years, as well as changes in global trade routes.
