Gazprom halts gas transit through Ukraine

The Ukrainian side's refusal to extend the agreement on the transit of Russian gas from its territory to Europe deprived Gazprom of the technical and legal ability to supply fuel via this route, and therefore on January 1 at 08:00 Moscow time (Baku time 09:00) gas transportation was stopped.

Axar.az reports that "Gazprom" was informed about this.

"Due to Kyiv's repeated and clear refusal to renew these agreements, Gazprom has been deprived of the technical and legal ability to supply gas for transit through the territory of Ukraine from January 1, 2025. From 08:00 Moscow time, the transportation of Russian gas from the territory of Ukraine is not carried out," the agency said.

It should be noted that the five-year agreement between "Gazprom" and "Naftogaz" on the organization of transportation of Russian gas from the territory of Ukraine ended on January 1.
