The identity of the corps commander dismissed for the death of Russian peacekeepers has been revealed.

Axar.az reports that the commander of the 1st Corps of the Ministry of Defense is Giyas Abbasov.

It became clear that the soldiers who fired at the car of the Russian peacekeepers moving quickly towards Azerbaijan, mistaking it for an Armenian car, served under him.

Giyas Abbasov was appointed to that position instead of Hikmat Hasanov, who showed good results in the Patriotic War. It is alleged that he performed insufficiently during the 23-hour anti-terrorist measures and before that.

It should be noted that Colonel Abbasov Giyas Abbas oglu was born on 19.12.1975 in the village of Poladli, Agjabedi district. He is one of the participants of the April battles. Colonel G. Abbasov, who took part in the liberation of lands in the battles for Jabrayil, Zangilan, Shusha, Lachin and Hadrut from September 27, was awarded the order "For service to the country", "For the sake of the country", "For the acquisition of Jabrayil" and He was awarded "For the purchase of the bell" medals.

In 2021, he was appointed commander of the 1st Corps instead of General Hikmat Hasanov.

Before that, he worked as the deputy commander of the 3rd Army Corps.
