On October 15, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the construction progress of the Aghdam-Fuzuli highway.

Axar.az reports that Saleh Mammadov, the Chairman of the Management Board of the State Agency of Motorways of Azerbaijan, informed the head of state about the work done.

It was reported that the Aghdam-Fuzuli highway, whose foundation was laid in October 2021 and whose construction is continuing rapidly, is considered one of the projects that will play an important role in the socio-economic development of the regions and villages freed from occupation, implemented in the territory of the Karabakh economic region.

This road, which is a continuation of the Barda-Aghdam highway, passes through the territory of the Aghdam, Aghjabedi, and Fuzuli regions. The road, which will be 64.8 kilometres long and 15 meters wide, will have 4 lanes and is being built according to the first technical grade.

As part of the earthworks, the removal of unusable rock, drilling, and expansion of the field is continued. Also, in order to ensure the transfer of water along the road, the construction of water pipes of different sizes, water crossings, and reserve passages intended for underground and communication lines, where necessary, is underway. The construction of the bridges projected on the road continues, and asphalt-concrete paving is being done in the sections where the construction of the road base is finished.

It should be noted that the construction of the road from Barda to Aghdam and Fuzuliy, as well as in the opposite direction, will ensure comfortable travel and will have a positive effect on the socio-economic development along the road.
