On October 15, the delegation led by the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, got acquainted with the Old City, which is among the world cultural heritage monuments.
Axar.az informs that the tour in Icherishehar began with an acquaintance with the Shirvanshahs palace complex, a masterpiece of medieval Eastern architecture, a world-important architectural monument.
It was reported that the buildings of the historical monument built at the beginning of the 15th century are located on the highest point of one of the hills of the Old City. The monument is clearly visible from the Caspian Sea and the heights around the city. The complex retains its historical-architectural advantage to this day.
During the trip, the members of the delegation were informed about the "Icherisheher" State Historical-Architectural Reserve, which is included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List, and the improvement and restoration works carried out here. It was noted that there are rare historical architectural monuments of different centuries in the territory of Icherisheher and they are protected by the state.
After tasting the freshly baked tandoori bread, the guests got acquainted with the 17th-century Underground bath and the Icherishehar Traditional Art Center.
Then the guests were given detailed information about the history of the Double Castle gate and the Maiden's Castle monument, which is considered one of the symbols of Baku. It was reported that the Maiden Castle, founded in the 7th-6th centuries BC, was restored in the 12th century. The monument with a height of 28 meters and a diameter of 16-16.5 meters consists of a real cylinder-shaped fortress and a large support building adjacent to it from the south side. In order to preserve this world-important monument and pass it on to future generations in its current form, conservation works were carried out at the Maiden's Castle in 2009-2013, according to the order of President Ilham Aliyev.
The stone exposition, which was rearranged in the territory of the Sırataghli religious-architectural complex near the Maiden's Castle, attracted the attention of the guests.
During the walk, Ersin Tatar also interacted with the residents.
