President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited Sumgait on October 23.

Axar.az reports that the head of state first participated in the opening and foundation-laying ceremonies of new production facilities in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.

It should be noted that Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park was established by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan dated December 21, 2011. This is the first industrial park created in Azerbaijan and the largest in the South Caucasus.

The Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Mikayil Jabbarov, informed the head of our state about the works carried out in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.

It was reported that the production and processing enterprises of competitive products in petrochemical and other priority industries are operating in the industrial park, the area of which is 583.5 hectares. Residence status was granted to 38 business entities with a total investment of approximately 5.8 billion manats in the park. So far, more than 5.4 billion manats have been invested in the industrial park by residents. Out of 38 registered residents, 20 are already active. Today "Azerbaijan Vanhong Ceramics Co." With the opening of LLC, "Novus Plastica" LLC and "UPI - Universal Packing Industry" JSC, the number of enterprises operating in Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park reaches 23.

So far, residents of Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park have sold a total of 9.5 billion manats of products, of which more than 3.3 billion manats - approximately 35 per cent - are exported. In the 9th month of 2023, 2.1 billion manat products were produced in the industrial park, of which 674.4 million manats were exported.

It was noted that more than 6,600 people are currently employed here. In addition, it is planned to invest more than 394 million manats in addition to the existing projects in the industrial park and create more than 2000 permanent jobs.

Products produced in the park are exported to Turkiye, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, China, Taiwan, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, Macedonia, Lithuania, Austria, Estonia, Denmark, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Brazil, Exported to Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Iraq, Japan, United States of America, Canada and other countries.

First, President Ilham Aliyev took part in the foundation-laying ceremony of the technical gas production facility of "Chinar-Service" Production-Commercial Company in the park.

It was reported that "Chinar-Service" was registered as a resident of Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park in May 2022. The company will be engaged in the production of compressed nitrogen, oxygen, argon and liquid helium gas products in the area of about 2 hectares of the industrial park.

It is planned to provide permanent employment to 70 people within the framework of the project with an investment volume of 13.3 million manats. In addition to the domestic market, the manufactured products are also planned to be exported to foreign countries. The industrial gases produced by "Chinar-Service" will meet the demand for these products in our country and will also be exported to Georgia, Turkiye, and Russia.

One of the residents of Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park is "Novus Plastica" Limited Liability Company. President Ilham Aliyev opened the polymer additives production facility of "Novus Plastica" LLC.

It was reported that "Novus Plastica" LLC was granted the status of a resident of Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park in August 2020. The enterprise, built on the 3.5-hectare area of the industrial park, produces two types of products - black carbon concentrate additive for polyethene pipes and polyethene coatings used in industrial packaging. In addition to the sale of the products produced by the application of advanced technologies of Italy in the domestic market, it is also planned to export them to Turkiye and the CIS countries. Up to 50 people will be provided with permanent jobs in the enterprise with an investment capital of more than 12.1 million manats.

It should be noted that "Novus Plastica" LLC will use the products of "SOCAR Polymer" LLC and "Azerikimya" Production Union as raw materials.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev participated in the opening of the packaging products production enterprise of the "Universal Packaging Industry" Closed Joint Stock Company.

It was pointed out that corrugated cardboard, files and other products used in packaging will be produced in the enterprise built on the one-hectare area of the industrial park. 20 types of products will be produced in the enterprise where Italian and Chinese technologies are applied. At the initial stage, 50 people will be provided with permanent jobs in the enterprise with a total investment value of 4.8 million manats. In the next stage, it is planned to increase the number of employees to 65 people.
