The delegation led by the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia Daiga Mierina visited Fuzuli district.
Axar.az reports that the delegation first got acquainted with the monument erected in memory of the first martyrs of the 44-day Patriotic War, Merdinli village mosque and Fuzuli International Airport. The guests then arrived in the city of Fuzuli. The employees of the special representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan informed them about the destruction and acts of vandalism caused by occupying Armenia in the territory of Fuzuli region during 30 years, as well as the works carried out and to be carried out in accordance with the master plan of the city.
It was reported that the Armenian vandals looted and destroyed the city of Fuzuli as well as other cities and villages they occupied. All houses, social facilities were destroyed, farms were destroyed. After the victory in the 44-day Patriotic War, large-scale reconstruction works have been started in the territories freed from occupation. The construction of the first residential neighborhood in the city of Fuzuli has been completed and the return of the former internally displaced persons to their homeland has been realized.
The delegation got acquainted with the full secondary school No. 1 named after Mirza Ulugbey built in Fuzuli and left for Shusha.
The guests were accompanied by the deputy chairman of the Milli Majlis, Adil Aliyev, MPs Kamran Bayramov, Konul Nurullayeva, Azerbaijan's ambassador to Latvia, Elnur Sultanov.
