Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan as part of his visit to Istanbul.
Axar.az was informed about this by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It was reported that issues arising from the Azerbaijan-Turkiye alliance, cooperation within the framework of regional and international organizations, the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as global security problems were discussed at the meeting.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked the Republic of Turkiye for hosting the next meeting of the 3+3 format, organization of the meeting and warm hospitality. Against the background of the rapidly changing security situation in the region and the world, the importance of such consultation mechanisms has increased, and the importance of cooperation in fighting common threats to our region has been noted. In this direction, the importance of Azerbaijan-Turkiye alliance, mutual support and solidarity within regional and international platforms was brought to attention.
Giving detailed information about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, the minister said that the challenges facing the peace process still remain. It was brought to attention that the continuation of territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Armenian constitution, as well as the fact that Armenia ignores the problem instead of doing systematic work in this direction, remains a source of concern.
C.Bayramov also informed his colleague about the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
It was expressed that Turkiye always supports the peace and construction efforts of brotherly Azerbaijan in the region, as well as the hope that the process will be concluded soon.
During the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
