Mayor signs Proclamation on 33rd anniversary of Khojaly -

Mayor of Hallandale Beach City, Florida Joy Cooper has signed a Proclamation on February 26, 2025, recognizing the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.

Axar.az reports that the Proclamation notes that on the night of February 25-26, 1992, more than 600 innocent people, including children, women, and the elderly, were brutally killed in Khojaly. The international human rights organization "Human Rights Watch" has called the Khojaly genocide the most horrific massacre in the region. The proclamation emphasizes that the tragedy of Khojaly reflects terrible losses and highlights the importance of fostering understanding and tolerance among people worldwide.

The Proclamation was presented to Nabat Eminova, head of the American Azerbaijan Youth Association, which operates in Florida.

Founded in 2021 in Florida, the American Azerbaijan Youth Association promotes Azerbaijan’s history, culture, and realities in the U.S., as well as strengthening ties between American and Azerbaijani youth.

It should be noted that such efforts by diaspora organizations and activists are crucial for accurately conveying Azerbaijan's realities and historical truths to the international community.
