On May 12, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, as part of his official visit to Bahrain.
Axar.az reports according to Azerbaijani MFA, the bilateral meeting between the ministers was followed by an expanded session with the participation of delegations from both sides.
During the meeting, bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bahrain, the future prospects of their relations, as well as regional and international developments were discussed.
It was warmly noted that next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Bahrain. The importance of mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields during these years, including mutual support and solidarity demonstrated within multilateral platforms, was emphasized.
The importance of utilizing the existing potential to further expand cooperation, as well as intensifying reciprocal high-level visits and meetings, conducting regular political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and enriching our bilateral legal framework, was highlighted.
It was emphasized that expanding cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, investments, tourism, high technologies, and others is necessary.
The importance of expanding cooperation in the humanitarian sector, particularly in education and the exchange of experiences, was also discussed.
Issues of cooperation within regional and international organizations, including the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), were addressed. There was an exchange of ideas on possible joint initiatives during Azerbaijan's current chairmanship of CICA, as well as its upcoming chairmanship of the OIC Summit in 2026.
Information was provided about the Parliament and Youth Network formed under Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement. The successful holding of the 2nd Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement in Manama was proudly mentioned.
The other side was also provided with detailed information about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, Azerbaijan's restoration and reconstruction efforts in the territories liberated from occupation, efforts to combat landmine threats, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, including existing obstacles such as territorial claims against Azerbaijan in Armenia's constitution.
The situation in the Middle East was also thoroughly discussed during the meeting.
Additionally, the sides exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
