On July 17, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the destroyed areas of the city of Fuzuli.
Axar.az reports that the guest was acquainted with the Master Plan of the city.
Emin Huseynov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts, briefed Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the destruction and acts of vandalism committed in Fuzuli during the 30 years of occupation, as well as on the restoration works carried out and planned in accordance with the Master Plan.
Once a densely populated and flourishing city, Fuzuli was completely looted and devastated during the Armenian occupation. After the liberation of the lands, the Master Plan of Fuzuli was promptly developed, approved by President Ilham Aliyev, and presented to the public in 2021. Fuzuli is located at the intersection of the main transport arteries of the Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur economic regions and holds significant transport and logistics potential. The total area of Fuzuli is approximately 1,942 hectares. According to the Master Plan, the city is projected to accommodate 50,000 residents by 2040.
A Fuzuli Memorial Complex will be built, including Museums of Occupation and Victory. A Creativity Center named after Kurmangazy has already been constructed. A city hospital is under construction, a City Park will be established, and large-scale landscaping and reconstruction efforts are underway. Social infrastructure such as kindergartens and schools will be located within 300 and 500 meters, respectively. As a result of these works, Fuzuli will become one of the major cities in the liberated territories, built in line with modern standards and architectural features. The "Smart City" concept will also be implemented. The administrative center of Fuzuli, covering more than 12 hectares, will be divided into three sections.
