Graves looted after the occupation in Aghdam -

Under the initiative and supervision of President Ilham Aliyev, archaeological research has been carried out continuously since March 2023 in the Imarat complex in the city of Aghdam. It turned out that as soon as the city of Aghdam was occupied, the Armenian invaders broke the headstones and cheststones of all the graves here.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Farhad Guliyev, Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, in an interview.

He said that some graves were completely dug up and destroyed:

“Some graves dating back to the 20th century were entered from the head to loot the prostheses made of precious metals. Entry into graves for robbery was also observed in the graves of the sayyids buried on the outer side of the eastern wall of the Aghdam Juma Mosque.”
