Armenian protest on X accidentally boosts Azerbaijani flag

Cybersecurity expert Farid Pardashunas shared an interesting incident with his followers on the social network.

Axar.az reports that, according to him, the campaign conducted by Armenian users on the X platform to protest against Azerbaijan yielded unexpected results.

The expert noted:

“Instead of writing the word “Azerbaijan” in their protest messages, they used the AZ flag emoji due to the character limit. This, in turn, led the Azerbaijani flag to the top of the trend in Armenia by the X algorithm. It is an interesting, random, and symbolic event. Those who wrote #AzerbaijanSanctions yesterday unknowingly waved the Azerbaijani flag in their tweets today.”

This incident, which is considered another example of how social media algorithms and emotional campaigns sometimes backfire, shows how much attention virtual struggle requires.
