As previously reported, a phone call took place between French President Emmanuel Macron and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Axar.az reports that after the call, President Macron shared a post in Azerbaijani on X about the conversation with Ilham Aliyev.

The post reads:

"As part of my consultations with regional leaders, I spoke with President Ilham Aliyev and expressed our support and solidarity following the Iranian strikes on his country.

I also thanked him for the assistance Azerbaijan provided to facilitate the evacuation of our citizens.

I took this opportunity to reaffirm our support for the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and to emphasize our desire to continue the bilateral dialogue with Baku on stronger foundations."
