Mirziyoyev proposes ‘Two Countries – One Championship’ program

“A Two Countries – One Championship” program should be developed.

Axar.az reports that Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said this at the third meeting of the Supreme Intergovernmental Council between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

“Next year, as we have also discussed, our countries will host an important sporting event—the FIFA U-20 World Cup. In this regard, a large-scale ‘Two Countries – One Championship’ program should be developed, bringing together sports, cultural and youth events to be held before the start of the tournament.

We also propose establishing the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan Sports Games. As part of this initiative, young people could compete not only in sports arenas but also in intellectual competitions. It would be very good if we tasked our teams with working on this,” Mirziyoyev said.
