Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev,​ has met with Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

Axar.az reports, citing the Cabinet of Ministers, that during the meeting, the Azerbaijani side was informed that Iran considers the U.S. and Israeli attacks on the country contrary to international law and maintains that the Islamic Republic was acting in self-defense.

“Trump is trapped in a quagmire where he can neither negotiate nor fight,” Rezaei said, adding that Iran’s conditions had been conveyed to the U.S. side.

No further details of the meeting have been released.

Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev has denied speculation that Azerbaijani territory was used against Iran.

Mustafayev made the remarks during a meeting with Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

“We consider Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s position on ending the fighting and establishing peace in the 40-day war (the US-Iran conflict — ed.) an indication of the warm relations between the two countries,” Mustafayev said.

It was noted that Iran is a friendly country to Azerbaijan.
