Shahin Mustafayev holds talks with Alexei Overchuk

On October 5, a delegation led by Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev held a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk as part of its visit to the Russian Federation.

Axar.az reports, citing the Cabinet of Ministers, that the meeting focused on the current state and prospects for developing Azerbaijan-Russia trade and economic cooperation.

The sides emphasized the importance of regular high-level contacts in developing bilateral relations and expanding practical cooperation.

The parties discussed ways to develop cooperation in trade, the economy and investment, as well as prospects for cooperation in industry, energy, agriculture, transport and logistics.

The meeting also reviewed the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, as well as decisions adopted at the 24th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, held in Zangilan on April 16, 2026.

The sides discussed measures to increase bilateral trade turnover and expand trade and economic ties, stressing the importance of creating favorable conditions for businesses in both countries.

They also discussed the development of transport links and ways to improve the efficiency of cargo transportation between the two countries. The sides considered opportunities to make greater use of the potential of the North-South International Transport Corridor.

In addition, attention was paid to the operation of border crossing points and improving procedures for the passage of cargo and vehicles through these crossings.

The parties exchanged views on prospects for implementing mutually beneficial projects of practical interest to Azerbaijan and Russia and stressed the importance of continuing efforts to further develop economic cooperation.

The importance of maintaining regular contacts between relevant government agencies of the two countries to promptly address practical issues in all areas of bilateral cooperation was also emphasized.

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed their readiness to continue joint work in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting was held in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere.

During the visit, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev also met with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

The meeting addressed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, particularly cooperation in the economic and trade sectors, including industry, energy, transport and logistics.

Shahin Mustafayev also met with Emin Agalarov, chairman of the board of the Azerbaijan-Russia Business Council, and Alexei Repik, chairman of the Russia-Azerbaijan Business Council.

The meeting featured an exchange of views on the development of economic, trade and investment ties between Azerbaijan and Russia.
