Russia-Azerbaijan ties developing on basis of mutual respect

Relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are developing on the basis of good-neighborliness, mutual respect, and consideration of each other’s interests.

Axar.az reports that Mikhail Kalugin, Director of the Fourth Department of the CIS Countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, told RIA Novosti.

“We are very pleased that together we have managed to turn the page on the plane crash in December 2024, which became a common tragedy for us and claimed the lives of citizens of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Kazakhstan,” he emphasized.

According to him, this would have been impossible without a trusting dialogue between the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

Mikhail Kalugin also noted that efforts to develop the western branch of the International North-South Transport Corridor, running from Russia along the Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan and Iran, will continue.

The significance of this megaproject goes far beyond the Russian-Azerbaijani agenda,” the Director added.
