No one can undermine the long-standing relations between Azerbaijan and Turkiye.

Axar.az reports that Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Council of Elders Chairman Binali Yildirim made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the academic year at Erzincan Binali Yildirim University.

“In recent days, we have come across some reports on social media regarding Turkiye-Azerbaijan relations. Azerbaijan and Turkiye are two states of one nation. Our roots are one, but our states are separate. Turkiye's sovereign rights belong to Turkiye. Azerbaijan’s sovereign rights belong to Azerbaijan. Neither we nor Azerbaijan has any intention of interfering in each other’s sovereign rights.

Those trying to undermine our relations should not get their hopes up. No one can undermine the long-standing relations between Azerbaijan and Turkiye because of certain current events. We are brothers. We share both joy and sorrow.

In the ancient lands of Anatolia, the Caucasus and Turkestan, just as we built great civilisations and achieved great successes in the past, we will strive to accomplish the same in the future,” Yildirim said.
