Azerbaijan and Italy sign critical raw materials declaration

Azerbaijan and Italy have signed a joint declaration on critical raw materials.

Axar.az informs, citing Rеport, that Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso announced the development on social media.

According to him, the strategic partnership between the two countries aims to expand cooperation beyond the energy sector and attract Azerbaijani investment into Italy’s manufacturing industry.

He noted that the two sides intend to develop technological and industrial partnerships in innovative fields, including artificial intelligence and robotics.

“Today, at the Italy-Azerbaijan forum, jointly organized by Italy’s Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the support of the Italian Confederation of Industry (Confindustria), a joint declaration on critical raw materials was signed with Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov. The document was signed in the presence of Confindustria President Emanuele Orsini and Minister Antonio Tajani and serves precisely this purpose,” Urso said.

He added that the initiative involves combining Azerbaijan’s resources with Italy’s expertise to diversify supplies and promote investment at every stage of the production chain. Potential support from Italy’s National Fund for Made in Italy is also envisaged.

“Azerbaijan could also become an important partner in implementing a strategic stockpiling project for critical raw materials that Italy has proposed establishing in Porto Marghera. This could become Europe’s first pilot facility of its kind, designed to protect Italian and European industry from supply disruptions and strengthen strategic autonomy,” the minister added.
