Ali Asadov highlights Azerbaijan-Georgia energy cooperation

Azerbaijan provided immediate assistance to Georgia following a major accident in the country's energy system in July, responding to a request from the Georgian side.

Axar.az reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov made the remarks while addressing the 11th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Georgia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Sighnaghi.

He noted that electricity capacity exchanges between the two countries had been significantly increased and remain at that level.

"Our joint mega energy projects, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor, play an important role in ensuring the energy security of the region and Europe and diversifying energy supply routes. Azerbaijani gas is now exported to 16 countries," he said.

The prime minister also stated that, as a result of successful cooperation in the field of green energy, the two countries have begun developing a green energy corridor to Europe.

According to Asadov, the project will also play an important role in strengthening Europe's energy security.
