Britain celebrates and mourns the end of EU relationship

Brexit supporters have been celebrating the start of Britain’s withdrawal from Europe.

Within hours of Article 50 being triggered, and Prime Minister Theresa May hailing the United Kingdom’s “great turning point”, Brexiteers were raising a glass at a pub in Westminster.

In a speech to the party, Conservative MP and Brexit campaigner Andrew Rosindell, said: “Margaret Thatcher was right. She warned us of the perils of this political union.”

However, elsewhere Remain supporters gathered to express their disappointment.

Britain and the remaining 27 EU member states now have two years to strike a divorce deal.
