Russia discuss Kim Jong-un's visit to China

Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matzegora met with the DPRK’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choe Son Hui, who oversees denuclearization issues and relations with the United States, the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang wrote on Facebook page.

Axar.az reports citing Russian media.

At the talks "the sides exchanged vital information, including in the light of the outcome of the recent visit of Chairman of the DPRK’s State Council Kim Jong-un to the Chinese People’s Republic." According to the diplomatic mission, the meeting discussed immediate prospects of "work of negotiation formats aimed at searching for the best ways to resolve the nuclear problem of the Korean Peninsula"

The North Korean leader visited Beijing on January 7-10 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Late on January 8, the two countries’ leaders held talks where Kim Jong-un announced plans to make every effort to ensure that his second summit with US President Donald Trump achieves success, which will be welcomed by the global community.

In his traditional New Year address, the North Korean leader confirmed his determination to fulfill a promise to fully denuclearize the country. Kim Jong-un also named his new meeting with Trump among priorities of his country’s foreign policy in 2019. However, he warned that North Korea would have to seek alternatives in case Washington failed to take steps on lifting international sanctions.
