Diplomats support second US-North Korean summit

China's special envoy for Korean Peninsula and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov have expressed support for the second summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump at the meeting in Moscow, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

Axar.az reports citing TASS.

"Both sides think that the situation on the Korean Peninsula continues to develop toward a closer dialogue," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said. "China and Russia positively assess the active efforts of North Korea and the United States to eliminate existing disagreements, and hope for further rapprochement between Pyongyang and Washington that will take into account their mutual concerns, as well as for positive results of the second North Korean-US summit," the ministry added.

The Foreign Ministry noted that China and Russia approve the process of normalization of intra-Korean relations and that the two countries will actively facilitate a political settlement on the Korean Peninsula.

Last week US President Donald Trump announced that he will meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for the second time in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on February 27-28.
