Erdogan: Turkey is reliable NATO ally

Turkey is a NATO reliable ally, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. President Erdogan made the remarks following the meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Ankara.

Axar.az reports citing Turkish media.

“As a NATO important ally, Turkey is actively fighting against various terrorist organizations in the region and in particular, against the militants of the Islamic State terrorist organization,” Erdogan said.

He also noted that unfortunately, a number of countries claiming to be allies of Turkey actively support terrorists in northern Syria. "The military conflicts near Turkey’s borders led to the flow of refugees into our country,” the president said. “Today there are about four million refugees in Turkey."

He stressed that Turkey spent $325 billion for Syrian refugees.
