Paul Saunders comments on Turkey`s Op -

The problem for Turkey is that while Ankara may view its efforts as establishing a safe zone, most Western governments already saw the region as a safe zone due to the US-backed Kurds` presence. So the Western countries see Turkey as making this territory less safe not safer.

Paul Saunders, a foreign policy expert at the US National Interest Center, told Axar.az in commenting on Turkey's "Peace Springs" operation.

"Regarding Syria’s territorial integrity - there are two definitions of territorial integrity. One is the absence of intent to change Syria’s borders. This is what Turkey has declared. The other is staying outside Syria’s borders, which Turkey has violated. The United States also violated this principle but did so with broad support. Turkey does not have the same support." - he added.
