NATO welcomes the agreement between the two members of the alliance - the United States and Turkey - to declare a ceasefire in northern Syria.

Axar.az reports NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has said it.

He said such an agreement would prepare the ground for reducing tensions in northern Syria.

On October 17, an agreement was reached between Turkish leader Erdogan and US Vice President Pence. According to the agreement, Turkey has ceased the Spring Peace for 120 hours. Instead, the US assumed that the YPG-led SDG forces would be withdrawn from Syria's north-east and heavy weapons would be withdrawn from them.
