Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has met with Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, General Mazlum Kobani.

Axar.az reports citing Telegraph.com that Shoigu talked about the meeting between the presidents of Turkey and Russia in Sochi to the Kurdish general.

The meeting was also attended by Valery Gerasimov, Chief of Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu informed the Mazlum Kobani about the increase in the number of Russian military forces on the Syrian-Turkish border in the coming days.

The Russian Defense Minister said that there is no need for civilian citizens living in the border areas to leave their territories.

The commander of the SDF said he would support the operations of the Russian military and Bashar al-Assad's army and thanked Russia for organizing the security of the Kurds.
