Most of those detained during the protests in Iran are unemployed or low-income people.

Axar.az reports this was stated in a statement to ISNA by a member of the Iranian Parliament's Foreign Policy Commission, Nakawi Hussein.

He claimed that the People's Mujahideen Organization, known by Iran as a terrorist organization, has been training protesters for over two years.

The protests began in Iran following the sharp rise in gasoline prices.
