At the III Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum in Cairo, Egypt, the United States and France addressed official requests for membership.
Axar.az informs that, Egyptian Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Tarek al-Molla has said this. He added that those countries will participate in the forum as observers.
The Cairo forum was attended by US Deputy Secretary of Energy, Representative of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of the European Union to Cairo, World Bank Representative, Ministers of Energy of Israel, Egypt, Cyprus, Greece, Ministry of Economic Development of Italy, and Palestine. The main issues on the agenda were natural gas transportation projects in Cyprus and Egypt. Greek, Israeli and Cyprus ministers have also signed an agreement for the Eastern Mediterranean gas pipeline to transport gas to Europe.
Egyptian President Abdullah al-Sisi welcomed the participants of the forum.
