A "never-referendum" can be held in Karabakh, not a referendum

Azerbaijan will not allow a referendum in Nagorno-Karabakh after its victory.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza in an interview with journalist Joan Lisoski.

"To be honest, all these years, none of the co-chairs of the Minsk Group, not even the President of Armenia, believed that such a referendum could ever be held.

We joked that Armenians call it a 'referendum,' but it's actually a ('never-referendum')" he said.

According to him, Putin legitimizes only his independent participation in the tripartite talks by mentioning the name of the Minsk Group:

"The Minsk Group can still be involved in the process surrounding the peacekeeping mission, its composition, and duration, but this is only a possibility."
