On May 14, 2021, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had a telephone conversation with US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker.

Axar.az reports that according to the Foreign Ministry, the sides exchanged views on the current situation in the region and the tension on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.

They stressed the importance of resolving such tensions through diplomacy and negotiations.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that Azerbaijan is committed to resolving tensions in the region. He informed his interlocutor that the leadership of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan had been sent to the region for several hours to resolve the tension on the border as soon as possible and that talks were being held with the other side.
