Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharov declined to comment on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's remarks about the illegal visit of French presidential candidate Valery Pekres to Karabakh.

Axar.az reports that M. Zakharov answered the provocative question of the Armenian journalist in this regard:

"Representatives of Baku and Paris can respond to the Azerbaijani-French relations."

He said that Moscow is committed to the basic approach to visiting those territories (the part of Karabakh in the zone of temporary responsibility of Russian peacekeepers - ed.):

"According to the statement of November 10, 2020, Russian peacekeepers control the Lachin corridor. According to paragraph 6 of the statement, the Lachin corridor is under the control of Russian peacekeepers. " Azerbaijan guarantees safe movement along the Lachin corridor."
