Erdogan should apologize to Baku - Hulusi Kilic

I strongly condemn the accusations of the Republican People's Party's Istanbul deputy Aykut Erdogan. None of these accusations is true or false, and the goal is to overshadow Turkish-Azerbaijani relations. The allegations about TANAP are also false.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from former Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic. The former ambassador explained the issue with figures:

"$ 6.3 billion has been invested in the implementation of TANAP, from which Turkish contractors have earned $ 4.5 billion, and our country has a 30% stake in the project. In addition, as a result of Azerbaijan's transfer of part of the gas from the Shah Deniz field to Turkey in connection with TANAP, our country's share increased from 9% to 19%. 15,000 people are currently employed under this project.

On the other hand, in 2008, 51% of Petkim's shares were openly sold to Azerbaijan for $ 2.40 billion. Azerbaijan later made additional investments in the company. In this context, the STAR oil refinery and the Petkim petrochemical complex, which are of great importance for Turkey, were opened with Azerbaijani investments. In general, to date, Azerbaijan has invested more than $ 15 billion in Turkey, and Turkey has invested around $ 12-13 billion in Azerbaijan. It is impossible to ignore so much work done and lie. Aykut Erdogan should read the response of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry to him very well. Both he and his party must apologize to Azerbaijan.

Responding to Erdogan's allegations about him, Hulusi Kilic drew attention to the date of the statement:

"Yesterday, in a discussion program, I brought to your attention the same numbers that I listed today. Today, Aykut Erdogan wrote about me on Twitter, "Ambassador, a member of the Board of SOCAR." I became a member of the Board of Petkim ten years ago. Petkim is a Turkish company with a stake in Azerbaijan. Also, at that time I was no longer an ambassador.

I would also like to draw your attention to the timing of the announcement. Aykut Erdogan made the statement on the day the Shusha Declaration was approved by the Parliament and during Mr Erdogan's historic visit to Ukraine. The reason, purpose and goal are clear. But everyone should know that no one can attack our brotherhood with such statements. Our brotherhood has deep roots and strength to overcome such obstacles and bigger blows. ”
