Representatives of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly met with acting speaker of the Armenian parliament Hakob Arshakyan.
Axar.az reports that the Azerbaijani side was represented by MP, Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Tahir Mirkishili.
Speaking about the Armenian-European Union relations, Arshakyan touched upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. He noted that the 44-day war caused human casualties and humanitarian problems, and that Armenian servicemen were still detained in Azerbaijan.
MP Tahir Mirkishili, who attended the meeting, noted that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is over, and that such a territorial unit does not exist in Azerbaijan. He also noted that all the destructions and tragedies in the region were on the territory of Azerbaijan, more than 900 towns and villages, including their homes, were destroyed in the liberated territories, noting that Azerbaijan has always respected the cultural heritage of all peoples. He also noted that the detainees in Azerbaijan are not captives, but criminals who have been proven guilty by a court decision.
Commenting on the Armenian Parliament Speaker's concern about the fate of Armenians living in Karabakh, Tahir Mirkishili said that he probably meant Khankendi, emphasizing that the economic and social situation there is also of concern to us. hit. Noting the importance of peace and development under the auspices of Azerbaijan and Armenia, the MP stressed the need for parliaments to always support the government and the people in these matters.
