Russia appreciates the balanced and responsible attitude of the Azerbaijani leadership to the events.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.

"We appreciate Azerbaijan's understanding of the security situation in Ukraine and its environs, which has accumulated over the years, and whose entire architecture has been agreed upon before, but has been systematically destroyed by our Western counterparts in recent years," he said.

The Russian Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the development of diplomatic dialogue with Azerbaijan:

"This will help to complete cooperation in other areas of bilateral economic, humanitarian and foreign policy."
