Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Japanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shunsuke Takei within the framework of the 29th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Axar.az reports that according to the information, it was emphasized at the meeting that this year, the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries was celebrated, and that despite being geographically far from each other, cooperation relations were established between Japan and Azerbaijan on the basis of mutual respect and trust.
The importance of the mechanism of political consultations, as well as mutual visits, was noted at the meeting. Discussions were held between the two countries on the prospects of expanding cooperation in political, economic, humanitarian and other fields, as well as on multilateral platforms. In this regard, opportunities for cooperation in the direction of increasing the potential of using alternative energy sources and investing in the Tool Free Economic Zone suitable for large investors were discussed. The participation of Japanese companies in the construction process was encouraged in the liberated territories.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his colleague about the current situation in the region, the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the practical steps taken by our country in the direction of eliminating the consequences of the occupation of Azerbaijan's territories for nearly 30 years. At the same time, the minister spoke about the danger of landmines in our territories and the serious humanitarian consequences caused by it.
At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on possible cooperation within the framework of Japan's membership in the UN Security Council in 2023, as well as global and regional topical issues and threats.
