MFA's statement on armed attack on embassy in Tehran

An armed attack took place on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran on January 27, 2023, at about 8:30 (GMT+4).

Axar.az reports citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

"The attacker destroyed the guard post with a Kalashnikov automatic weapon and killed the head of the security service. Two security guards of the embassy were also injured while preventing the attack. Their state is satisfactory. An investigation is currently underway into this treacherous attack. The public will be provided with additional information about the detail of the incident. Rest in peace to our martyr!" reads the information.
