Back in January, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan warned against the restriction of visits to Iran, and the reason for this is clear. After our embassy suspended its activity in Tehran, Azerbaijan’s representation in the Islamic Republic of Iran is very limited,” said Azerbaijani FM Jeyhun Bayramov.

Axar.az reports that according to him, it consists only of the activities of the employees of the General Consulate in the city of Tabriz in a very limited way: “At the end of January, the Azerbaijani side issued a travel warning, calling on our citizens to refrain from such trips unless there is a special need. Despite all these, immediately after information about that event- detention of Azerbaijani students in Iran was submitted, both the ministry in Baku issued a note to the Iranian MFA, and at the same time, our General Consulate started to act. It took a long time to get information about the fate of that person. After weeks, we received official information from the Iranian side that that person was detained, he is accused and a criminal case was initiated regarding him. There is contact between the student and the staff of our Consulate General in Iran. At the same time, work is being done to arrange a physical meeting. We are in regular contact with the student's family members, the issue is under our control."
