The signing of the protocol of intent on the construction of the Kars-Nakhchivan railway is a historic event.

Axar.az reports that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said this on September 25 when he made a joint statement to the press with President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"Once upon a time, you and I (Erdoğan - ed.) laid the foundations of the TANAP project, we equalled the opening of the TANAP pipeline. Today, we are starting work on the construction of the gas pipeline from Turkiye to Nakhchivan, which is part of Azerbaijan. The signing of the protocol of intent on the construction of the Kars-Nakhchivan railway is also a historical event. I am sure that this project will be successfully implemented and will serve Azerbaijan, Turkiye and other countries as a branch of the Middle Corridor," the head of state added.
