The chairmanship of APA passed from Turkiye to Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani Milli Majlis assumes the chairmanship of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) for two years.

Axar.az reports that Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan, said this during her speech at the 14th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly held in Baku on February 22.

According to the chairman, it is a matter of pride to take over the chairmanship from brotherly Turkiye:

"Current problems such as humanitarian crises, conflicts, poverty, climate change, increasing discrimination, racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia also have a negative impact on the Asian region. It must be recognized that all these challenges can be solved collectively, not individually, but only through joint efforts. This also applies to peace, security, stability and sustainable development in our region. Of course, taking into account human resources and achievements in various fields, I believe that our region has enough opportunities to cope with these challenges."
