The issue of Karabakh and the so-called "Armenian genocide", territorial claims against Turkiye and Azerbaijan, border closure - these are all interconnected issues. At the root of all this is the idea of ​​"Greater Armenia" and the decades-long enmity between Azerbaijan and Turkiye. The main reason why Turkiye closed the border with Armenia was the war of aggression against Azerbaijan. Therefore, our states have always acted equally in this regard.

Axar.az reports that, retired Turkish intelligence colonel Coskun Basbug said that President Ilham Aliyev's words that the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the agreement to open communication between Armenia and Turkiye should take place on the same day as the most ideal option.

Basbug said that the recent events increase the hope for peace.

"Azerbaijan liberated its lands from occupation through war with the political support of Turkiye. In fact, we won not only Armenia, but those behind it. Those who have seen what we are capable of together are now forced to reckon with our strength. The Pashinyan government has begun to understand this and to explain it to the people, and to take certain steps. The decision to hand over 4 villages of Kazakh to Azerbaijan, the start of delimitation and demarcation, and at the same time Nikol Pashinyan and Alen Simonyan's use of the term "great catastrophe" regarding the so-called "Armenian genocide" are big events. Probably, during his speech at the forum at ADA University, Mr. Ilham Aliyev said that he wished to sign the peace agreement and the agreement on the normalization of relations between Turkiye and Armenia at the same time, considering these processes. This will demonstrate our unity and equality to the world."

The colonel emphasized that the Armenian people are currently facing a choice.

"However, the issue we are talking about will take some time. Because the Armenian people, unable to get out of the psychological collapse they experienced after the defeat, find it difficult to accept the truth. Those who want to take advantage of this call people to riot and try to block the way to peace. However, the Armenian people should know that there are two ways in front of them. The first and most acceptable way is to choose development, normal neighborly relations, peace. The second is the path that will stop development and bring enmity, blood and tears. If they believe and hope for something in the arms and ammunition sent from different places, military equipment and empty promises, it is nothing but a fantasy. They should understand that those who show the Armenian people the way to war while living in luxury in France and the United States will not be able to taste them in the most difficult moments. So they should listen to their government and stop rioting. In my opinion, Pashinyan and his team should show political will to the end and find the strength to sign the peace agreement. Because there is no other way. But whether they will be able to do it is still under question. If they can do that, Ilham Aliyev's proposal will also be possible. In any case, during the last four years, Azerbaijan and Turkiye have done their best for peace, and the choice is left to Armenia."

It should be noted that Ilham Aliyev, during his speech at the international forum on "COP29 and Green Vision for Azerbaijan" held at ADA University on April 23, emphasized that it is more ideal to sign the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the normalization agreement between Armenia and Turkiye with the opening of all communications on the same day.
